      I love reading about Roger and his eternal love for art. It always took center stage in his life; wether it was veering off his running route or relentlessly filling his weekend with art classes. I thought it wonderful to read about someone who loved art as much as I do. Art not only sustains us but keeps us whole and gives us sustenance. The restlessness ceases. Thank you Roger for creating such beautiful things in giving yourself entirely over to art's clutches and finding meaning in your life therein.       Born in '63 it wasn't until High School that I discovered Pink Floyd. By then Barrett was no longer with the band thus it took me a few more years to learn of his talents. I fell in love with PF the moment I listen, and as time goes on and the learning continues, I love and appreciate them even more. Thanks for the journey Sid, Roger, David, Nick, and Richard!

      In respect and admiration to Syd Barrett I wrote a song and performed and recorded it with my band Schroedinger's Cat on our new album. Syd was one of my most influence for playing with psychedelic elements and our genre Kozmikrock is based on this great genius. for me he is the uncrowned King of Acid Rock and Kozmikrock.I miss his music..for me he was the real Mr.Pink; the real mastermind of Pink Floyd and I'm sure he did more for the psychedelic Rock as ever anyone before or after...

      Discovering the Syd story was similar to my uncovering of the Brian Wilson story, with wilson it's the production with Barrett it's the word play, making the words the focus and letting them determine metre and rhythm changes. The genius of SYd is the flow of his words, pure magic....true artist that Barrett is.

      A tribute to one of the greatest heroes of my youth! Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to see him on stage. When I attended my first Pink Floyd Concert - I think it was in late 1970 in Ludwigshafen, Germany - he was already missing. But listening to the Madcap songs each time causes a feeling of eternity.

He was the most extraordinary and most charismatic person I met ever in my life (and later there were many people of course). And Monique is right : Rog is visiting me in my dreams - till today.       So deppresing that I became a fan of Syd's after he died! :( I would have love flooding him with my drawings (Why did I have to miss the 60's?!)...I think he was a beautiful soul, full of positive energy and charisma, uniquely beautiful.       My appreciation of Pink Floyd is frozen in amber, restricted to the Syd Barrett era. I am almost in tears that he did not pursue a career in rock'n'roll. If he had, he would've been one of the greatest, not that he is, as is. But it could've been better! My only consolation is that he didn't end up like Janis Joplin or Jimmy Hendrix after a severe drug binge. We had him for another....nearly 40 years! So sad to think he lived the rest of his life as a mental invalid...

      Sometime in 1968, I was walking along Hampstead high street with my girlfriend Kate. She had been at Art school with Syd in Cambridge and they were good friends. To her supprise Syd was walking towards us, we ended up having a curry togeather! We used to play Golden Hair all the time (Kate was a blond) great talent sad loss.

      What an amazing talent. Musically and artistically, Syd is very much missed. His creation of Pink Floyd created a whole new genre of music.       Roger "Syd" Barrett has been a major influence in my life as a musician/songwriter. When I do come to England I am most certainly taking a pilgrimage to Cambridge to see the hometown of the band that has infuenced so many American musicians. I can relate to the struggles that Pink Floyd and Syd's family must have endured while watching Syd lose his grip on "reality" as I have witnessed my own brother lose grip on his mental state over the past several years.

      If rodger didnt have his illness he would have been a bigger and better songwriter than lennon+mccartney or jagger and richards. I 1st heard the piper at the gates of dawn 3 years ago and its now my favourite album "a masterpiece". I can remember the day he died in summertime 2006 and one of the best original musicians ever is now at peace with himself.

      I have long been a fan of Pink Floyd, and in particular the erratic genius of Syd. I find it sad that people found it necessary to pursue him after he left the band, and somehow I'm certain this was not something he appreciated.

      Regardless, his influence on music in particular is unmistakable, irrevocable, and everlasting, and I for one am grateful for his presence on this rock we call Earth. Sleep peacefully Syd...your job is well done.

      Great website. Syd was one of rocks true visionaries. I was deeply saddened when I heard of Syd's passing. I am a working musician who plays a Fender Telecaster identical to the one Syd used in the early days of Floyd. It is one of my prized possesions. Syd was a tremendous influence on musical journey.
